The railbirds started gathering early to catch a glimpse of the biggest names in poker. By the time the $50,000 HORSE event began, I had to weave my way through a crowd that was already four people deep.
I'll be following around a few players as they make their way through the field, including John D'Agostino. As we were entering the Amazon Room today, Dags took me by surprise with his lack of trademark negativity towards poker.
It's not uncommon to hear John announce his plans to bust before the first break of a tournament, but today he was almost…well…upbeat. “I think I can actually win this thing.” If Dags made it deep after being so negative at the Mirage Poker Showdown, I hate to see what he’s capable of with a little confidence over the next few days.
He’s already off to a quick start, winning his first hand. Although his table is stacked, action was folded to Dags in the small blind—and there was nobody seated in the big blind. Dags raised and took it down.
Table respect or intimidation factor? You decide.
